Often difficult to fool with artificial presentations, scent is usually your best friend when targeting the ‘big ugly’ black drum. Crustaceans are a major part of their diet and will typically readily accept any offering that smells right. Sometimes fooled by Gulp and other artificial lures the black drum pulls hard, bends rods and is a very fun fish to catch. Think you’ve got what it takes to fool one with a fly? It can be done.
