The tripletail has to be one of the ugliest, yet most welcomed-aboard catches out there. These fish fight hard, taste great and will absolutely test your skill when it comes to getting them out from around the structure. They are typically found nearshore, but don’t let that fool you, tripletail can be found hundreds of miles offshore as long as they have structure to hang on. It’s not uncommon to find these fish in the 25 plus pound range and the Florida state record weighs in at 40.8 pounds. Want to know why they call them a tripletail? You’ll have to ask me to find out.
